Lynx-Indiana series getting attention

Game 2 of this year's WNBA Finals was the most watched game since 1999.

Wednesday's game between the Lynx and Indiana on ESPN averaged 778,000 viewers and a 0.6 rating. Not much by NFL standards, but it was the most viewed game in the WNBA Finals on ESPN since the defunct Houston Comets played Los Angeles in 1999.

And, if coach Lin Dunn keep spewing, the ratings will be better for Game 3 tonight. The Indiana coach has been highly critical of Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve after the Lynx beat her team 83-71 in Game 2 to even the series at 1-1.

Dunn said Reeve should have been tossed for throwing her jacket after getting a technical in the third quarter. Dunn also didn't like Reeve telling her team to keep their elbows up going for rebounds during a halftime speech.

A rivalry seems to be building here.

Viewers peaked Wednesday at 1,011,000 in the middle of the game. The rating in the Minneapolis market was 3.8, and in Indianapolis 2.4.

Game 3 of the Houston-L.A. series in the 1999 WNBA Finals had 1,052,000 viewers and a 1.1 household rating.
