Lynx have best one-two scoring pair left in playoffs: Augustus and Moore

The Lynx have the best 1-2 scoring combo among the three WNBA still playing.

Seimone Augustus is averaging a playoffs-high 19.4 points and Maya Moore is close behind, averaging 17.6 with three game in a row with exactly 20 points. Moore ranks fourth among players from the Lynx, Connecticut and Indiana.

Tina Charles of Connecticut (18.8 points per game) and Katie Douglas of Indiana (18.2 ppg) are the only players ahead of her besides No. 33, her teammate.

Augustus, of course, was the MVP of the WNBA Finals last season. So far she is getting plenty of help from three teammates as far as scoring goes, especially Moore, coming off a rookie of the year season in 2011.

Augustus recently talked about Moore: "She does a great job of mixing it up. She has matured a lot in one year as far as knowing when to take a shot, when to pass the ball. That is where her assists games comes up.

"[Improved in knowing] when to attack on the offensive rebound. ... When you have players like Taj [McWilliams-Franklin] and [Rebekkah] Brunson, who is always in the top five in rebounding, it is hard to pick when to get in there.

In five playoff games, Moore is averaging 3.2 three-pointers and shooting .471 percent behind the arc.

PERSPECTIVE FROM REEVE

We are not so far superior that we should win every single game, that we should win by 20," Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said last month. "We have said this all season long. We understand that we have created this. We created these expectations.

"This team is a very good basketball team. But this league is a very good league and it has good balance, especially at the top. You are talking about the differences between each team is marginal. For us, we understand what it takes to win a championship. And we are pretty locked into that."

"We loved having to guard some really good players And it tested a lot of things. And scoring. So for us it was a really good placement of those two games like that in this point of the season."

* After the Olympic break, the Lynx's sole focus has been "The Road to Repeat," Reeve said.

"We have been able to handle things and work through it and that is a great tribute to people like Taj and Lindsay and Rebecca and Seimone."

* Augustus at the start of the season on her 41-year-old teammate Taj McWilliams-Franklin: "The only thing with Taj when you talk about age is Taj is probably one of the youngest players when it comes to taking care of her body and being cautious about what she needs to do as a player to be effective on the court."

"So don't listen to her [talk] about age. ... That experience that she beings, the emotion, the tenacity, the intensity is what helped us get to a championship last year."
