Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve to help host inaugural "Women's Spotlight''

Reeve and St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman will talk about the importance of strong women in the community and how people can work together to bring equality to all.

Shortly after practice ends today, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve will help host the inaugural "Women's Spolight.'' Along with St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman. The private event will celebrate the achievements of women in Minnesota and honor individuals and organizations who champion gender equality. The emcee of the event will by team broadcaster Lea B. Olsen.

Reeve and Coleman will talk about the importance of strong women in the community and how people can work together to bring equality to all. As part of the program, which will be held at the Summit Brewing Company, the Lynx will honor four individuals who have been leaders of change in their field.

Those honorees are:

In education/arts: Whitney McKinley, the assistant princepal at Hiawatha College Prep and a 2016 semifinalist for teacher of the year..

In sports: Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson, who spent much of the Lynx off-season in MInnesota before doing a brief playing stint in Turkey. She hosted numerous basketball clinics in the area an dmade an appearance at the science museum to celebrata National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

In business: Nikki Time, owner of MPLS Tattoo Shop, named a 2017 "Best in the Twin Cities" by City Pages.

In the community: Laura Fixsen, the vice president of development for MATTER, a non-profic organization dedicated to expanding access to health around the world.
