Greetings from Target Center, where the Lynx will play San Antonio tonight in a game that could lock up a playoff spot. A victory would move the Lynx to 17-6; according to team officials, there are no potential three- or four-way tiebreakers that would push them out of the playoffs if they hit the 17-victory mark at this point of the season.

They'll play again tonight without Seimone Augustus, who participated in pre-game warmups but will sit out her 10th game since she had arthroscopic knee surgery on July 17. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said Augustus needs to have one more practice to gauge how she can handle sprinting, stopping, jumping and cutting. Should she pass muster, Reeve said, her status would be elevated from "questionable'' to "game-time decision''—and it is "definitely a possibility'' that she could play Friday at Atlanta.

"Seimone is doing great,'' Reeve said. "I told her at this morning's shootaround, that's the hardest she's ever gone in shootaround in the time I've been here. She's pretty amped up, chomping at the bit. We're close, really close.''

In two previous games this season, San Antonio (7-16) has not been able to keep up with the Lynx. The Stars lost 66-49 at Target Center on July 12 and were defeated 74-59 on June 19 in San Antonio. In the first of those games, the Lynx shot a season-high 55.4 percent; in the second, they held the Stars to 29 percent shooting from the floor and six points in the first quarter, the fewest points by a Lynx opponent in any quarter this season. The Lynx are ranked second in the WNBA in scoring defense (70.8 points per game).

The Lynx announced Tuesday afternoon that former Gophers forward Shae Kelley has been signed for the remainder of the season. Kelley—who was chosen by the Lynx in the third round of the 2015 WNBA draft and waived on June 2--had been signed to a pair of consecutive seven-day contracts beginning July 28. The second of those contracts expired Tuesday, meaning the team would have to sign her for the rest of the season or release her. Kelley has appeared in four games.
