Pearson Vue, Bloomington, a computer-based testing company and a business of Pearson PLC based in the United Kingdom, announced it has acquired North Carolina-based Exam Design Inc., a provider of examination development software used in high stakes testing. No terms disclosed.

NEW BUSINESS

The Minnesota Executive Council approved the lease for Grand Rapids, Minn.-based Magnetation, a recycler of old iron ore tailings. The deal allows the company to recover ore on the Itasca County portion of the western Iron Range.

NEW PRODUCTS

Polaris Industries Inc., Medina, introduced the Brutus, a line of commercial utility vehicles that is part of a strategic alliance between Polaris and Bobcat.

PERSONNEL

U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis, said that John Stern will succeed the retiring Kenneth Nelson as corporate treasurer, effective July 1. Stern is senior vice president and manager of corporate funding and derivatives.
