MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS

Engineering and architecture companies Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., St. Paul, and Yaggy Colby Associates, Rochester, said they intend to merge.

Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, has acquired a majority stake in Audax Health, Washington, D.C. Audax provides technology that helps consumers better manage their health. Audax will operate as a free-standing unit of Optum.

Personnel

SurModics Inc., Eden Prairie, announced the resignation of board member Mary Brainerd. The board also increased its size from eight to nine and appointed two new directors, Ronald Kalich and Timothy Nelson.

Duffy & Partners, Minneapolis, a branding and design firm, said managing partner Tricia Davidson has resigned to pursue new opportunities.
