M&A boss Rosenkranz leaving Piper Piper Jaffray & Company's head of mergers and acquisitions, Jeff Rosenkranz, said he is retiring from the firm to spend more time with his family. In an e-mail to colleagues, Rosenkranz said: "With my sons about to enter their teen years, this seemed like a good time to step back -- before they have no interest in spending time with me." Rosenkranz, 44, spent six years at Piper Jaffray and had been in his current position for about a year. A spokesman from Piper Jaffray confirmed that Rosenkranz is leaving and that the company hasn't yet named a replacement.

NWA, others boost fuel surcharges again Northwest Airlines and American Airlines raised international fuel surcharges by $20 on round-trip fares, while Delta Air Lines boosted domestic fares by $10 because of rising jet-fuel costs. Major U.S. airlines are increasing fares for the fifth week in a row, including a $50 boost in U.S. ticket prices last week. Most international destinations already have a $210 round-trip fuel surcharge added to the base fare, and the $20 increase was "inevitable" because of record fuel prices, said Tom Parsons of website BestFares.com. Delta raised its domestic fares late Tuesday, spokeswoman Betsy Talton said.
