Letter of the Day: A Southwest shine to the renovated Humphrey Terminal

October 8, 2008 at 11:35PM

How pathetic that I would admit this truth about myself: I've always had a negative connotation about the Humphrey Terminal. Perhaps it's because the only time I flew from there, it was the old, uninviting building and my flight was delayed by six hours. Yet we know now how beautiful and efficient the new structure is! So why do I still perceive it as the stepsister to Lindbergh?

Perhaps it's my perception that it houses strugglers, with Sun Country being at the top of this list. Yet one article in your paper this month has, overnight, altered my opinion forever: the arrival of Southwest Airlines. Ah, the knight in shining armor!

With practically every other airline having sucked the pleasure out of flying today, Southwest is that lining of gold. I welcome them with open arms. I'm thrilled for Humphrey to be able to welcome this one airline that will greatly enhance Humphrey's image and, with the ease of coming and going from this wonderful airport, bring relief to weary travelers.
