Lego brick turns 50

The original Lego brick turneds 50 years old Monday, and the company estimates that there are 62 Lego bricks for every one of the world's inhabitants.

Many Twin Citians get their Lego kicks at the Mall of America store, which is devoted entirely to the timeless building toy.

However, there are no golden birthday celebration plans at the 6,500-square-foot LEGO Imagination Center, which reaches four stories high. The center has been at the mall since it opened in 1992.
