Mahtomedi High School’s home football game against Bloomington Kennedy on Friday night was canceled “out of an abundance of caution” as law enforcement searched for two men who may have been armed.

The two suspects are connected to a report of a kidnapping and robbery at gunpoint on the 7300 block of Inwood Way N. in the city of Grant, less than a mile from the school’s football field, according to a statement from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Three uninjured victims were found at the scene.

The suspects had not been located as of 9 p.m. Friday.

“Due to ongoing law enforcement activity near our school campus, and on the advice of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, we are canceling tonight’s football game out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety of our community,” a statement from the school’s website said.

The school and the Sheriff’s Office did not immediately return a request for more information.
