The Gateway State Trail Trail between L'Orient Street and Cayuga Street just west of I-35E in St. Paul was supposed to close to pedestrians and bicyclists starting Thursday, but it's not.

Crews are not ready to conduct the scheduled tree and brush removal which was to have closed the trail for several weeks. A new closing date has not been set.

MnDOT reminds pedestrians and bicyclists are reminded to approach areas near construction with caution and to pay attention to posted signage.

The work is part of the I-35E Cayuga improvement project, which aims to reconstruct I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
