Blades for saws, lawn mowers, augers and hedge trimmers and scissors and bits are also sharpened. Call before you go since the business is in a residence.

Lunds and Byerly's meat departments will sharpen up to three knives free for pickup the next day (no serrated knives).

I'd put Excelsior in the top five suburban downtowns for a shop and stroll in the Twin Cities area. When a good merchant is having a sale, so much the better. The owner of Jackie's Living With Style store (219 Water St., Excelsior, 952-472-6440) is doing a floor change. On Friday and Saturday, all mid- to high-end floor models are discounted 40 to 75 percent, including sofas, chairs, lamps, wall decor and lighting from Wesley Hall, Paladin Upholstery and Quoizel.
