Kelly, Blyleven picked to manage Futures Game teams

Tom Kelly, who managed the Twins to their two World Championships, will take on one of his former All-Star pitchers this July, when he and Bert Blyleven act as managers in the Futures Game at Target Field on Sunday, July 15.

The game pits the best minor league prospects from the U.S. — a team that will be guided by Kelly, Minnesota's winningest manager — against a squad of international players, who will be led by Blyleven, a Hall of Fame righthander.

Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano, the Twins' top two prospects, took part in last year's game at CitiField in New York. Buxton, who will soon begin playing for Class AA New Britain, might be selected to the U.S. team again this year, but Sano is out for the season after undergoing elbow surgery.
