Jessie Diggins won her second consecutive stage victory in the Tour de Ski on Tuesday, winning a 10K freestyle race in Toblach, Italy, to maintain the overall lead in the eight-stage cross-country skiing event.

Diggins, of Afton, finished 14.8 seconds ahead of U.S. teammate Rosie Brennan with a time of 25:14.5. She placed in the top three for the 30th time in World Cup competition, breaking Kikkan Randall's record for most World Cup podium finishes by an American skier. Diggins has made the podium in all four Tour stages thus far, starting the event with a pair of third-place finishes.

At the halfway point, Diggins leads the overall standings by 20 seconds over Brennan, with third-place Frida Karlsson of Sweden another 42 seconds back. The Tour de Ski, which never has been won by an American, continues Wednesday in Toblach with a classic pursuit — 10k for women and 15k for men — and concludes Sunday.
