Jessie Diggins earned her first victory of the World Cup season Saturday, running away with a women's 10-kilometer freestyle in Gallivare, Sweden.

The cross-country skier and Olympic gold medalist from Afton led at every checkpoint. On a challenging, two-lap course with 1,140 feet of climbs, she pulled away early, finishing in 24 minutes, 48.3 seconds to defeat Sweden's Ebba Andersson by 23.1 seconds. Diggins now has 15 victories in individual World Cup races.

"We had amazing skis. I felt like I was flying out there," Diggins told reporters in Gallivare. "I've been having a really great week. I have a lot of fun with my team, and I'm feeling like I'm in a really good head space."

Diggins, who finished second in a 20k freestyle during last weekend's season opener, now sits atop the World Cup overall standings. She will race in the women's 4x7.5k relay Sunday.
