Post time: 5 p.m. Lock of the day: Scent of Success (3rd race). Value play of the day: Majestic Stride (5th race). Big score: 50-cent Pick 5 ticket — Race 4, (1, 3, 6/1, 3, 9/5/3, 4, 8/3,5, 8, 9), $54.00.

1 1 mile. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance optional claiming: $20,000. Purse: $32,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Derby Code (Canchari, Robertson124/8-5

2: Northern Playboy(Eikleberry, Bravo)122/5-1

3:Tashkent (Fuentes, Flores)122/2-1

4: Sedaris (Fuentes, Flores)122/6-1

5: Last Promise (Lindsay, Goberdhan)122/4-1

LAST PROMISE appears to be lone speed which can be lethal at Canterbury. Has had three races since a long layoff and looks to be rounding into form. TASHKENT could be sitting right behind the top selection and if the speed stops, might pick up the pieces. DERBY CODE will be closing from the clouds but that could be difficult in this paceless race.

2 5 furlongs. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Waiver claiming: $5,000. Purse: $12,500.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Extra Gorgeous (Lindsay, Lawrence)122/4-1

2: Strong Patriot (Fuentes, Lund)122/8-1

3: Snowtrick (Hamilton, Hanson)122/5-2

4: You Got This (Negron, Pierce) 122/9-2

5: Just Splendid (Butler, Donlin) 122/12-1

6: Kimberly Frances (Chirinos, Riecken)122/9-5

YOU GOT THIS could get the lead early if she breaks alertly. Had some nice races this winter/spring at Turf Paradise. If she keeps that form, she'll be right there. KIMBERLY FRANCES is three for three on the Canterbury dirt but may need a prep race and two turns before we see her best effort. STRONG PATRIOT has speed if the top pick falters at the start but has had a little pop and stop in her this year after a long layoff.

3 About 1 mile on turf. State bred. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden special weight: $5,000. Purse: $35,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Golden Gopher (Vega, Berndt)124/9-2

2: Holy Soul (Negron, Weir)124/8-1

3: Classic Whiskey (Harr, McKinley)124/12-1

4: Ellie's Charm (Juarez, Silva)119/15-1

5: Added Diamonds (Valenzuela, Rhone) 124/5-1

6: Danielle's Deal (Hamilton, Hanson) 119/15-1

7: Scent of Success (Canchari, Robertson) 119/9-5

8: That Would Be Nice (Arroyo, Rengstorf) 114/7-2

SCENT OF SUCCESS ran some very nice speed figures on the grass as a two-year-old. Returns to the Mac Robertson's barn after spending last fall with his dad in Chicago. THAT WOULD BE NICE has raced four times on the dirt but is bred for the turf. Woke up in 2021 debut. Another move forward puts her in the mix. DANIELLE'S DEAL had two dirt races as a two-year-old but breeding screams turf route. Might wake up at a big price.

4 6 furlongs. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Claiming: $10,000. Purse: $14,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: No Parking Here (Valenzuela, Silva)124/7-2

2: Big Buffy (Negron, Rarick119/8-1

3: Dried Pepper (Eikleberry, Broberg)119/5-2

4: Side Street Dave (Chirinos, Sanderson)124/10-1

5: Rockthepulpit (Wade, Rengstorf)124/5-1

6: Wake Up Call (Juarez, Cappellucci)124/9-5

NO PARKING HERE returns to the dirt after walking out of the gate in his last turf start. Second start under Silva's care and surface switch could be the key. WAKE UP CALL has the outside post and speed and should be able to work out a good trip. First time with Cappellucci strikes at 25%. DRIED PEPPER tries hard when not racing on the turf. First time in the Broberg barn after the claim.

5 About 1 mile on turf. State bred. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden special weight. Purse: $35,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Let's Skedaddle (Eikleberry, Berndt)119/9-5

2: That's All Right (Hamilton, Berndt) 119/6-1

3: Majestic Stride (Canchari, Robertson) 119/12-1

4: Left of Center (Butler, Rhone) 124/12-1

5: Minnesota Nice (Fuentes, Lund) 119/8-1

6: Withherbootson (Ordaz, Silva) 119/15-1

7: Canterbury Gold (Quinonez, Padilla) 124/5-1

8: Adrianna Joy (Juarez, Biehler) 119/12-1

9: Annie's Shenanigan (Wade, Richard) 124/7-2

MAJESTIC STRIDE was bet down to 5/2 in first start as a 2-year-old last year. Didn't show much that day but hoping she matured over the winter and that this full sister to Majestic Pride ($424K) fires at a price. LET'S SKEDDADDLE is the logical favorite with the rail and a couple of seconds and thirds on the turf on her résumé. Has faced open company her entire career and now faces Minnesota breds. ANNIE'S SHENANIGAN raced evenly against open company on the turf at the Fair Grounds this winter.

6 About 7½ furlongs on turf. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance. Purse: $32,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Grand Prize (Eikleberry, Berndt)124/6-1

2: Xtrema (Quinonez, Heitzmann) 119/5-2

3: In the Red (Wade, Pierce) 124/9-2

4: Diva de Kela (Juarez, Biehler) 124/10-1

5: My Heart Sings (Chirinos, Rosin) 124/8-1

6: Wave of Goodness (Melancon, Tracy) 119/12-1

7: Rush Hour Traffic (Fuentes, Scherer) 124/4-1

8: Hotasapistol (Canchari, Stuart) 124/5-1

MY HEART SINGS had two wins on the Canterbury sod last summer with the fastest speed figures of the field. Versatile running style adds to her allure. GRAND PRIZE tries hard every race having been first or second in nine of 10 starts. First race on the turf was less than inspiring but I'll give her another chance. XTREMA raced in some tough turf races this winter at the Fair Grounds and wouldn't be surprised if she regained her past glory.

7 6 furlongs. State bred. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden claiming: $7,500. Purse: $11,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Cat Paws (Wade, Silva)119/6-1

2: Bogey Blue (Melancon, Tracy)124/17-1

3: Yesteryear (Valenzuela, Stuart)124/7-2

4: Modric (Ordaz, Silva) 119/8-1

5: Determined to Rise (Hamilton, Berndt) 119/5-2

6: Emmett Cat (Hernandez, Schindler) 124/12-1

7: Gone a Lil Lu Hu (Harr, Wiley)124/9-2

8: Hismuddawasamudda (Arroyo, Rengstorf114/5-1

YESTERYEAR has early speed and that is lethal in lower level claiming races. Caught an off-track in seasonal debut and stopped but I can forgive that effort. HISMUDDAWASAMUDDA drops again in claiming price after a poor effort in the mud but Rengstorf brings him back two weeks later indicating his readiness. MODRIC has only one start and flashed early speed. Drops in class and has potential upside.

8 About 1 mile on turf. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance optional claiming: $12,500. Purse: $31,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Go for a Ride (Wade, Martinez)122/10-1

2: My Golden Boy (Juarez, Martinez)122/12-1

3: Danceronthebeach (Quinonez, Padilla) 122/4-1

4: Overly Lucky (Valenzuela, Stuart) 122/8-1

5: Bourbon Wisdom (Kennedy, Diodoro) 122/8-1

6: Willtobelucky (Fuentes, Eikleberry) 117/15-1

7: Aubey Ridge (Butler, Rengstorf) 122/9-2

8: Doodle Time (Canchari, Robertson) 122/5-2

9: Stitzy (Eikleberry, Berndt) 122/5-1

DOODLE TIME has been competitive against better at Hawthorne and Fair Grounds and the bullet work on May 23 shows confidence. STITZY comes off a long layoff and has some quirks but when he's right, he's very good. BOURBON WISDOM is royally bred for the turf and has only one start on the surface in his past seven. Third race off the claim for the red hot Diodoro.
