It's beginning to look a lot like... shoppers will have a bargain Christmas

December 15, 2012 at 3:05AM

When holiday sales are strong on Black Friday weekend, some analysts think it's a bad omen for the holiday season. It can mean that shoppers are in the mood to spend only if there's a bargain, said Burt Flickinger of Strategic Resource Group."Shoppers are staring down the stores, waiting for deeper discounts," he said.

With 10 shopping days until Christmas, it looks as if the deals have begun in earnest, although Flickinger thinks the real deals will begin on Super Saturday and continue through next weekend.

Retailers he thinks will offer some of the best bargains in the next 10 days include Gap, H&M, American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, Toys 'R' Us, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Lands' End.

Here's a sampling of deals that are expected to continue through the weekend:

Grethen House at 50th and France in Edina has 50 percent off all fall merchandise.

Lands' End has 30 percent off everything at Landsend.com.

J. Crew is discounting everything 30 percent in stores and online through Monday with the code WISHLIST. Free shipping, too.

Online shoppers don't want to forget Free Shipping Day on Monday. Nearly 1,500 merchants have signed up so far for the promotion, which guarantees delivery by Dec. 24 in the continental United States.
