Introducing the baste in show winners

Turkeys, turkeys everywhere! We saw Wicked turkeys. We saw Viking turkeys. We saw turkeys covered in feathers, glitter, pom poms and even a bit of ... math? Turkeys from all over Minnesota, and beyond, flew in for the Minnesota Star Tribune’s 47th annual Oh, You Turkey! coloring contest. Judges were wowed by the entries in all age groups; but creative ideas, bold colors and terrific technique pushed these turkeys to the top. Entries were so strong, we’ve included a few of our favorites beyond the top three in each age group. Thanks for sharing your talents in our favorite holiday tradition, and we’ll see you again next November!

First place: Lisa Harty, 61, Loretto, Minn.

Judges’ comments: The bold colors and fine lines remind us of Ukrainian egg paintings.

Judges’ comments: Anyone else need a tissue? The crumpled paper provides a perfect texture.
