Protesters have gathered at a park near where a man was shot and killed by federal agents Saturday. Republican Tom Emmer said Walz’s response was “dangerous.”

Federal agents fatally shot a man this morning in south Minneapolis, setting off confrontations between protesters and agents at the scene.

It was the second fatal shooting this month involving federal agents who have arrived en masse in Minnesota as part of a massive immigration enforcement operation.

The Department of Homeland Security said the man was armed with a gun and two magazines of ammunition and circulated a photo of the weapon. DHS said a Border Patrol agent fired in self-defense. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the state’s chief investigative agency, said it was not allowed access to the scene.

The man killed was identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, of Minneapolis.

Video shows several agents wrestling the man to the ground and shooting him multiple times.

The customized firearm appeared to be a version of the Sig Sauer P320, a 9mm pistol carried by law enforcement and U.S. military members.
