I'm watching the Hopkins girls' basketball team against Eastview in the finals of the Dick's Sporting Goods Holiday Classic at Hopkins, and a bigger game involving Hopkins has just ended at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.

Hopkins' 38-game winning streak ended tonight in an 86-78 loss to St. Paul Johnson in the final of the Best Buy Holiday Classic. Hopkins is ranked No. 1 in 4A and Johnson is No. 1 in 3A.

I was at Augsburg last night and I wrote about Johnson after the Governors beat Henry Sibley in the semifinals. A theme from Johnson was "respect." In fact, I overheard someone from Johnson say last night, "It doesn't matter who we beat, we won't get respect." Well, that isn't a problem now. With their victory over Hopkins, the Governors have earned plenty of respect.

We'll have some details of the Johnson-Hopkins game coming up later in the evening, here on GameFacemn.

FYI: In girls' hoops, Hopkins leads Eastview 56-40 with 5:30 to play.
