Hoping and wishing isn't a plan for Twins offense

Twins assistant GM Rob Antony has lamented that several roster contenders, particularly on offense, haven't distinguished themselves this spring. But really: What should anyone reasonably expect?

The Twins made upgrades to their starting rotation — spending money that should translate into better performances. They did next to nothing to address their offense except hope and wish that unproven young players might get better or veterans might rekindle old glory.

To a certain extent, it's up to players to produce. It's also very much up to decisionmakers to put them in a position to succeed.

no deal yet Jared Allen left Seattle without a signed contract and will make his final decision this weekend, according to ESPN.com.
