Hennepin County Medical Center has decided against building a $53 million outpatient care facility in Minnetonka that had been part of its strategy of reaching out to the suburbs.
The county hospital said in a statement Wednesday that it has reconsidered several factors, including its business plan, projected growth in the number of patients and the needs of the western suburbs. HCMC had been planning a three-story, 121,000-square-foot facility at 10955 Wayzata Blvd. that would provide specialty surgical services.
In January, a proposal submitted by Opus Development Corp., called for a three-story, 121,000-square-foot facility at 10955 Wayzata Blvd. Under that plan, the HCMC Suburban Clinic would have provided specialty surgical services, including outpatient-only surgery, gastrointestinal procedures, advanced imaging procedures and surgical consultation.
HCMC officials said in January that a formal decision to go ahead with the project had not been made.
