“Hamilton” is hopping back to Minnesota.

Hennepin Arts, which presents Broadway shows in Minneapolis, announced Feb. 2 that Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Revolutionary War musical is returning for a four-week engagement at the Orpheum Theatre.

The musical, which won 11 Tonys, a Grammy and the Pulitzer Prize, anchors the 2026-27 Broadway season.

In addition to classics, the 12-show lineup also includes recent Tony winners “Maybe Happy Ending,” “The Buena Vista Social Club,” “The Outsiders” and Alicia Keys’ “Hell’s Kitchen.”

The season kicks off with “Mamma Mia!,” the ABBA-based jukebox musical about a girl’s discovery of her mother’s secrets and her meetings with her three potential dads (Sept. 15–20).

The show, like most in the season, has a weeklong run.

“Clue,” based on the Hasbro board game and the 1985 film, returns for a three-night stand (Oct. 9-11) followed by Tony-winning director Jack O’Brien’s splashy new tour of “The Sound of Music” (Oct. 20-25).

For the first time, Minnesota will play host to “Maybe Happy Ending,” the futuristic love story from Korea that won best musical among its six Tonys in 2025. “Maybe Happy Ending” centers on two retired Helperbots that form a human-like connection (Nov. 17-22).

“Buena Vista Social Club,” the five-time Tony winner steeped in love and Cuban music, makes its Minnesota premiere at the holidays (Dec. 29, 2026–Jan. 3, 2027).

It is followed by another Minnesota first — “Operation Mincemeat.” The frantic comedy about how the British deceived the Germans in WWII using the corpse of a homeless man was a big hit on London’s West End (Jan. 26–31, 2027).

In total, the shows in the upcoming Minneapolis Broadway season have nabbed more than three dozen Tonys, including eight-time winner “Hadestown,” Anaïs Mitchell’s retelling of the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone (Feb. 9–14, 2027).

Another newcomer is “The Outsiders,” the 2023 stage adaptation of the gang-themed book by S.E. Hinton and the film by Francis Ford Coppola (March 9–14, 2027).

The revival of Pete Townshend’s rock opera, “The Who’s Tommy,” gets a spring engagement in Minneapolis (March 30–April 4, 2027) followed by “Hamilton” (April 20–May 16, 2027).

“Beetlejuice,” the adaptation of Tim Burton’s irreverent ghost film that last played the Orpheum in fall 2023, returns for an encore (June 25–27, 2027).

Minneapolis’ touring Broadway season concludes with “Hell’s Kitchen,” Keys’ semi-autobiographical story about a teenager coming of age (July 13–18, 2027).

Subscription packages start at $340. Single tickets go on sale at later dates. hennepinarts.org.
