Commenter Rocket is back in the mix, writing about hockey in ways only he can. Usually this involves either very short bursts (haikus) or very long bursts (2,000-word posts about club hockey in North Carolina). This is an example of the former, as he preview's the NHL's Eastern Conference in haiku form. On Thursday, he'll give the Western Conference the same treatment. Rocket?

The teams are in the predicted order of their divisional rank

Atlantic Division

Boston

They could win it all

Which would not be right

Montreal

Will that be enough?

Tampa Bay

I should like them more

They have a ton of talent

Detroit

With relentlessness

The years have turned great to good

Toronto

It's hard to improve

When one of your best players

Ottawa

They gave out a big contract

It will not matter

Florida

Playing hard for a bad team

Buffalo

A team with one goal

To win the Cup? Oh %@#& no

Metropolitan Division

Pittsburgh

The playoffs are not in doubt

NY Rangers

He will save the puck

As he gazes through your soul

Washington

And they still have Ovechkin

Maybe it can work?

Philadelphia

Improvement is possible

New Jersey

The average age

Even without Brodeur is

NY Islanders

On the island for

Columbus

A bleak history

The future seemed to be bright

Carolina

The bad just gets worse

They'll face familiar Denver or a new playoff challenge in Oklahoma City. Neither will be the best team on the floor.
