While the Wolves just finished up shootaround in Madison -- their game against the Bucks tonight is the second-to-last preseason game -- I've been looking over NBA.com's annual survey of NBA general managers, who every year are asked their opinion on all sorts of things.

Of note to Wolves fans:

* The GMs didn't pick No. 1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns to win Rookie of the Year -- Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor received 45 percent of the votes for that -- but he was chosen by 62 percent of the voters as the guy who in five years will be the best player from this year's draft class.

Towns got 34.5 percent of the vote for Rookie of the Year and far outdistanced Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay and D'Angelo Russell for best player in five years.

* In a splintered vote, Andrew Wiggins was voted as this season's "breakout player." He received 17 percent of the vote in a category where he was just ahead of Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker and Washington's Bradley Beal. Shabazz Muhammad also received some votes in that category.

Other Wolves who got mentioned:

* Zach LaVine finished third behind Russell Westbrook and LeBron James as the league's most athletic player. Wiggins also got some votes there.

* Andre Miller finished fourth when GM's were asked what current player would make the best coach someday. Chris Paul, Mike Conley and Steve Blake finished ahead of him.

* Ricky Rubio was voted fifth best passer, behind Paul, James, Stephon Curry and Rajon Rondo.

* Kevin Garnett received votes for best leader, finishing behind James, Tim Duncan and Paul.

* They received some votes for most improved team, which was won by Oklahoma City.

Also, CBS Sports picked its elite 100 players for this season and the Wolves had two guys make it: Rubio at 91 and Wiggins at 42.

You can see players 21-100 on that list here,

Meanwhile with the Wolves, expect Sam Mitchell to continue to look at different combinations tonight, hopefully with more competitive results that Sunday's loss in Memphis.

Also expect to see Kevin Martin tonight. He has played little so far in the preseason, but should get regular-season minutes tonight and Friday so he can get in regular-season shape.

"My season starts tonight," he said at shoot today.

Martin also reportedly was the best at Monday night's team-bonding bowling outing in Madison, even though he said he last bowled probably six years ago.

"I guess I'm just a natural athlete," Martin said.
