Gameday preview: Spring Lake Park at Benilde-St. Margaret's

October 2, 2015 at 12:19AM

Scouting Spring Lake Park: Want to be the first team to blemish the Panthers' record? Stop their option offense. They have a lot of great skilled players. Quarterback Zachary Ojile has run for 807 yards and 14 TDs. Focus on him and running backs Isley Carrington (804 yards) and Luke Stafford (398) can gash your defense. Speaking of defense, the Panthers' unit looked vulnerable at times last week against Armstrong. The Falcons gained 256 yards and averaged more than 8 yards per attempt.

Scouting Benilde-St. Margaret's: The youthful Red Knights start five sophomores on defense, one on offense. Those players did well in a close loss to Cooper. They also frustrate coaches with mistakes common with inexperience. Running back Ricky Floyd has rushed for 1,193 yards. Quarterback Will Whitmore averages a little under 100 yards per game passing. The Red Knights, while underdogs Friday, are eager to redeem themselves after last week's drubbing at Park Center.
