Lynx update: Maya Moore is tearing up the WNBA, with three consecutive 30-point games. Trouble is, the shorthanded Lynx (3-0) need every one of her points. They have won in overtime over Connecticut and by one point over Tulsa in their past two games. Against the Shock they shot over 50 percent for the first time. The starters all played more than 30 minutes, too — Moore a team high 34:22 — so there could be some tired legs going against the Liberty.

Liberty update: Coach Bill Laimbeer is rebuilding in New York. The Liberty (1-1) traded for 6-4 center Tina Charles, the 2012 MVP for Connecticut, in the offseason to anchor the middle. She is averaging 12 points and 10.5 rebounds. New York still has dynamic guard Cappie Pondexter, averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game. The Liberty routed the Sun 75-54 on the road in its season opener but lost last Saturday to Chicago at home when it shot 36.2 percent — Pondexter went 3-for-16 — and committed 17 turnovers.

The WNBA and its players' union weren't able to agree to a new collective bargaining agreement by the Friday night deadline, and now the league enters a ''status-quo'' period with no new extension reached.
