High-scoring Dream next big test

Lynx update: After an 0-4 start, the Lynx beat Connecticut in overtime Sunday with a show of defense not yet seen this season. Led by 18 rebounds from the guards — including a career-high seven by Crystal Dangerfield — the Lynx outrebounded their opponent for the first time this season. C Sylvia Fowles scored 24 points vs. the Sun. She has had 20 or more points in three of five games and is ninth in the league in scoring (19.2). In an impressive debut with the team, Layshia Clarendon scored 12 points with five rebounds and three assists off the bench and had a three-pointer in overtime that put the Lynx up to stay. This is the first of consecutive games vs. the Dream at Target Center. They play again Sunday.

Atlanta update: After an 0-2 start in which they averaged 72 points per game, the Dream has won four straight averaging 91 points per game. The Dream is 3-0 on the road this season, including a victory at New York in which Courtney Williams scored 31 points on 14-for-26 shooting. The Dream is driven by a deep group of guards, three of whom — Williams (19.5), Tiffany Hayes (16.6) and Chennedy Carter (15.7) — are scoring 15 points or better per game, although Carter (elbow) is out. The Dream is first in the league in steals and second in points off turnovers. Williams is sixth in the league in scoring.
