Lynx update: What's wrong with the Lynx? That's the question of the moment in the WNBA, where the Western Conference leaders have lost back-to-back games for the second time this month. The latest Lynx loss came Wednesday at home against Washington 79-61, three nights after the Lynx had lost at Washington 77-69. The team's four captains — Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen and Rebekkah Brunson — met privately with coach Cheryl Reeve for almost three hours Tuesday, then bombed at home a night later. Augustus returned from minor knee surgery three games ago and is just 10-for-37 from the field. Moore is 6-for-25 in the past two games.

Stars update: If the Lynx can't get untracked against San Antonio, it might be time to panic. The Stars have lost three in a row and seven of their past eight. The latest was a 73-45 debacle against the New York Liberty on Wednesday on the Stars' home court. The Stars shot just 27 percent (17 of 63) in the game while the Liberty shot 47.6 percent (30-for-63) from the field. F Kayla McBride averages a team-high 13.8 points per game. Former Iowa star Samantha Logic is averaging 13.6 minutes and 1.9 points in her rookie season.

The WNBA and its players' union weren't able to agree to a new collective bargaining agreement by the Friday night deadline, and now the league enters a ''status-quo'' period with no new extension reached.
