The president of Minnesota Made Hockey, a for-profit group which wants part of the youth hockey market in the state, is claiming victory in its legal battle with Minnesota Hockey.
Bernie McBain has sent out an e-mail saying District 6 of Minnesota Hockey has revoked a rule which threatened expulsion of players who played in certain outside hockey programs, i.e. Minnesota Made Hockey.
Here is McBain's email:
As most of you know, for the last year Minnesota Made Hockey has been in a law suit with District 6 and Minnesota Hockey. This suit has received a fair amount of media coverage both locally and nationally. The suit, in part, involves Minnesota Made's challenge to a District 6 rule imposed on its players and families last year prohibiting active District 6 players from playing in certain outside hockey programs under penalty of expulsion from their team and Minnesota Hockey. After two important court decisions in the case, District 6 recently revoked its own rule. That is good news. Minnesota Made believes, and always has, that players and families are the best judges of their child's activities and development. For those of you who stayed away from Minnesota Made and its programs last year because of this rule, welcome back. Minnesota Made offers many programs, leagues and clinics for your sons and daughters to develop their skills and enjoy the game of hockey. Please check out our clinics for Summer and Fall on our website www.minnesotamadehockey.com give us a call if you have any questions.
