GEAR ALERT

Crayfish imitation baits are must-haves for bass anglers. Smallmouth and largemouth bass alike regularly feed on crayfish, or what in other parts of the country are referred to as crawdads or crawfish. Choices in this bait type can fill up a tackle box, and generally can be divided into hard baits (crankbait-style lures) and plastics. The former are cast and retrieved, running shallow or deep depending on the lure. Plastics often are rigged as jigged and retrieved in a jigging style, bouncing at or near the bottom. Stock up. Catch bass.
