CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Evening Post Publishing Co. has changed its name to Evening Post Industries.

CEO John Barnwell says the name better reflects the company's diversified holdings and strategy to acquire holdings beyond the media.

The Post and Courier, which is owned by Evening Post Industries, reports (http://bit.ly/121XUlc) the Charleston-based company will remain a news and information provider. It publishes three daily newspapers and 11 weekly newspapers, mostly in South Carolina, and operates a book publishing unit.

It also has three subsidiaries in St. Paul, Minn.

Cordillera Communications operates 11 network-affiliated television stations, Informed Interactive provides digital services and Clear Night Group is a new marketing services division.

Evening Post Industries is also developing 12 acres on the Charleston peninsula and controls South Carolina timber holdings through its White Oak Forestry subsidiary.
