End 2nd: Minnetonka 4, Lakeville North 1

Skippers extend lead with three more goals

March 12, 2010 at 1:36AM

Minnetonka extended its lead to 3-0 on goals from defensemen Jake Rossman (0:27) and Justin Holl (4:27). Lakeville North got one back on a goal from Brady Skjei (10:43) but it was one step up after two steps back. It also provided a little comic relief from the LN students in the 200 seats. They started a "Mr. Hockey" chant as an answer to Minnetonka's same chant for Gardiner's first period goal.

Holl's goal could still be officially awarded to Max Coatta. Holl's shot from the point hit either Coatta or the Panthers' player Coatta was tied up with and deflected into the net.

Rossman is the fourth defensemen behind Holl, Prochno and Hesketh, but he made a D-I caliber play. He went coast-to-coast and flipped a backhand shot over the goaltender.

And Jake Thornberg scored at 15:44 to put the Skippers in control.
