EDMONTON, Alberta – Edmonton combined a stingy defense and a home-field advantage to take a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United FC on Sunday.

The Wild is now winless in its last four matches, with two losses and two draws.

Edmonton (6-1-1 in the fall season) has won 10 home games in a row going back to the spring season. The Eddies have given up only 10 goals this season.

United (3-3-2) outshot the Eddies 11-8 but failed to finish. Except for an own goal against Puerto Rico three weeks ago, the Loons have gone 270 minutes without a goal.

Tomi Ameobi scored for Edmonton in the 46th minute, heading it in from inches away.

The shots advantage for United was especially notable in the first half, 7-1, but Edmonton goalkeeper Matt VanOekel stood strong. Tiago Calvano, Jeb Brovsky and NASL scoring leader Christian Ramirez all nearly got shots past VanOekel. Midfielder Ibson also had his chances, once missing just inches over the crossbar.

After Ameobi's goal opened the second half, Edmonton went into a defensive shell. The Loons' best second-half chance was a shot missed by J.C. Banks in the 77th minute.
