Last season's clothes going, going ...

Melly (3906 W. 50th St., Edina, 952-929-9252, www.mellyonline.com), Minnesota's first Lilly Pulitzer signature store, will blow out summer and fall 2007 merchandise at 50 to 70 percent off starting today. The bright prints, mostly from Pulitzer, will include cashmere sweaters, ties, belts and shirts for men; dresses, shorts, vests, shirts, sweaters and shoes for women, and a wide range of sizes for kids. Most sale prices will range from $3 to $120. The sale will be next door in Belleson's basement from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Many sale items are featured online. Birch (2309 W. 50th St., Minneapolis, 612-436-0776), the natural and fair-trade clothing store, will mark all fall and winter items for women and men $29 Friday through Sunday, regularly up to $150. Corelle prices cheaper than Wal-Mart's

Even Target rarely goes to toe-to-toe with Wal-Mart's prices, but the little ol' Bargain Seeker (Cherokee Shopping Center, 6278 Boone Av. N., Brooklyn Park, 763-533-0435) has done it. The deals are especially good on a new shipment of dinnerware from Corelle. Virtually unbreakable, the kitchen dining sets are great for cabins, first apartments and homes with young children. Owner Richard Tessari priced the 150 sets about 25 percent less than the low price leader. Prices range from about $20 for 16-piece sets to $40 for 42-piece sets, which Wal-Mart sells for $54. Free cosmetics (with purchase, of course) A few days remain during Neiman Marcus' beauty event. Spend $100 on any cosmetics or fragrance and receive a tote with nearly a dozen samples. The event includes one-on-one consultations with skin-care experts and an introduction of new colors. The event is at 505 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, 612-339-2600 through Saturday. JOHN EWOLDT
