Edina is top seed in 2A girls' hockey state tournament

In Class 1A, defending champion Blake drew the No. 1 seed. The tournament begins Wednesday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Edina and Blake drew the top seeds for the girls' hockey state tournament next week at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Hornets (25-1-1) will play unseeded Farmington (16-11-2) in a quarterfinal matchup at 6 p.m. Thursday. Edina reached the semifinals in each of the last two state tournaments.

Blake (24-2-1) opens play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against unseeded Alexandria (14-12-1). The Bears have reached the tournament finals in the last four seasons, winning the title in 2016, 2014 and 2013.

The tournament begins Wednesday with Class 1A quarterfinal games.

11 a.m. Mankato East/Loyola vs. St. Paul United

1 p.m. Hibbing/Chisholm vs. Warroad

6 p.m. Alexandria vs. Blake

8 p.m. Northfield vs. Mound Westonka

The Class 2A quarterfinals are Thursday.

11 a.m. Roseau vs. Blaine

1 p.m. Eastview vs. Hill-Murray

6 p.m. Farmington vs. Edina

8 p.m. Forest Lake vs. Eden Prairie

Semifinals in both classes are Friday, with the championship games on Saturday afternoon and evening.
