Streak for the ages

Eden Prairie's remarkable 40-game winning streak began on the heels of two consecutive home losses, to Edina and Wayzata, at the end of the 2012 regular season. Since then, the Eagles established themselves in the eyes of many as the premier high school football program in the state.

Last defeat: Oct. 17, 2012, by Wayzata 16-0 at home.

When the streak began: Oct. 26, 2012, a 28-7 section playoff victory over Shakopee.

Undefeated seasons during the streak: 12-0 in 2013, 13-0 in 2014

Consecutive championships: Four, starting with Class 5A in 2011, Class 6A in 2012-14

Last state tournament defeat: Nov. 12, 2010, by Brainerd, 13-10 in the quarterfinals at Maple Grove
