Known for his one-man-band tape-looping performance technique — even after he could well afford to hire an army of backing musicians — Ed Sheeran will bring his Loop Tour to Minnesota next summer.

The nice-guy British pop king has confirmed an Aug. 15 gig at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on the 26-date North American trek, which is scheduled to kick off June 13 in Glendale, Ariz. This will be Sheeran’s third time playing the Vikings’ stadium, following two previous in-the-round performances there in 2018 and 2023.

Like his old chum Taylor Swift when she played USBS, the 34-year-old singer is asking fans to preregister via his website, edsheeran.com, for the first shot at tickets. Those go on sale for registered buyers Tuesday at 9 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com. A separate sale for American Express cardholders is also scheduled to begin Tuesday at noon. Prices are not yet available.

No opening acts have been announced for the tour, which follows last week’s release of Sheeran’s eighth studio album, “Play.” A press release for the concerts said they will feature “an all new set design with new songs from his recently released album, ‘Play,’ as well as fan favorites and some classics added in.” So basically your average concert tour.

Sheeran did add a backing band to his entourage on his 2023 trek, which included a surprise gig at the State Theatre, but he still frequently performs solo at shows using his looping gear.

The Loop Tour itinerary also includes a stop at Summerfest in Milwaukee on June 25.
