EBay Inc. EBay Inc. said Wednesday its fourth-quarter earnings climbed, bolstered by growth in its PayPal payments business and a holiday shopping season that was healthier than the year before. The San Jose, Calif.-based company's earnings totaled 44 cents per share, 4 cents more than what analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected.

Morgan Stanley Morgan Stanley said it earned $617 million during the last three months of 2009 on profits from its investment banking and retail brokerage businesses. The results gave the New York-based company its second straight profitable quarter following a year of losses. The bank earned 29 cents a share on $6.8 billion in revenue. That was less than analysts' expectations of 36 cents on $7.8 billion in revenue, according to Thomson Reuters.
