Would you fly a few hours east to experience a Category 4-5 blizzard? I did that for KARE 11 in 1993, and what I’d give to be in New York or Boston right now: 12 to 24 inches of snow with 60-mph wind gusts?
Most meteorologists wouldn’t hesitate to ride out a hurricane, witness a flood or hailstorm or even sneak up on a tornado. Helen Hunt had it right in the movie “Twister”: “I want to see it!”
While much of New England wrestles with the biggest blizzard in a decade, we are faced with a little slush on Tuesday and another streak of 30s, maybe 40s by Friday. With colder air in place, perhaps we’ll see a few inches of snow during the first week of March.
Uh-oh. NOAA’s GFS model predicts 40s and a few 50s for early March while ECMWF (European) guidance shows a couple more punches of numbing air, with subzero lows in early March. Right now, I’m leaning toward a (brief) polar fling.
No matter. USA beat Canada. After losing some teeth, a hockey player scores the winning goal in OT? Like something out of a Hollywood movie. Even better. It’s American hockey!
