First, Steve Miller was out, and now so is John Oates.

Oates’ longtime partner Daryl Hall has been announced as the replacement for Miller at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand on Aug. 28. The “Maneater” hitmaker of Hall & Oates fame is touring solo nowadays after getting into a legal and public tiff with his old bandmate starting in 2023.

Hall will be paired with the previously scheduled openers for Miller’s concert, the Rascals, featuring two original members from their “Good Lovin’” days. Tickets to the show — which falls on the fair’s second Thursday night — will be priced at $44-$75 for reserved seats. They go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via eTix.com or by calling 800-514-3849.

The grandstand’s Aug. 28 slot opened up two weeks ago after “The Joker” hall of famer Miller abruptly canceled his entire tour, citing concerns over dangerous weather. State Fair organizers promised that a replacement would be named.

A 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Hall has long kept up his profile outside of Hall & Oates with his popular web series “Live From Daryl’s House” (now on YouTube), which pairs him each week with other pop and rock vets for a little conversation and musical improvisation. Set lists at his solo concerts still feature a heavy mix of ’80s-era H&O tunes, a list that also includes “Private Eyes,” “She’s Gone” and “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do).”

Here’s how the full schedule now looks for this year’s grandstand concert series. Tickets and more info for all shows are available via mnstatefair.org/grandstand.
