This past year our house won an award for energy conservation and design from SIPA (the national organization for the Structurally Insulated Panel Industry). Sheri Koones, author of several home books such as "Modular Mansions," is planning to feature our house in her newest book about pre-fab homes. Although ours isn't a traditional prefabricated home, the walls were constructed of SIPs in a factory, so it's an example of that building method.

I am giving her some images for publication, including photos of the house being constructed of SIPs and of the finished exterior.

What does this recognition mean? My hope is that 20 or 30 years from now some of the awards and recognition will make our home more valuable than if we had built a traditional less energy-efficient home. We'll just have to wait and see if the recognition pays dividends.
