NEW BUSINESS Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, Mass., said Thursday that it has launched the first implants of its TAXUS Element Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent System in the European Union and other CE Mark countries. The TAXUS Element Stent System is the company's third-generation drug-eluting stent technology and incorporates a platinum-chromium alloy with an innovative stent design and an advanced catheter delivery system. It received European regulatory CE Mark approval last month, which included a specific indication for the treatment of diabetic patients.
Mid-Continent Engineering, Minneapolis, has been awarded a $1 million contract to manufacture an assembly for GE Healthcare's ultrasound business.
Target Corp., Minneapolis, said that shareholders had approved a proposal to declassify the board of directors. As a result, all candidates elected to the board will now stand for one-year terms. The new rules apply for directors elected Wednesday at Target's annual shareholders meeting and will be fully implemented for the 2011 annual meeting.
Arctic Cat Inc., Thief River Falls, has entered into an agreement to transition its snowmobile engine manufacturing from Suzuki Motor Corp. Arctic Cat will begin manufacturing some of its own snowmobile engines in St. Cloud after the 2014 model year. Currently, Suzuki supplies all engines for Arctic Cat's snowmobiles. Suzuki will continue to supply the company with engine parts to service existing engines after the 2014 model year.
Greenbelt Resources Corp., Burnsville, announced the approval of its alcohol fuel plant permit by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. The permit enables the Diversified Ethanol Corp. feedstock-to-ethanol processing plant, located in Paso Robles, Calif., to begin conducting pilot studies for clients. Diversified is a wholly owned subsidiary of Greenbelt Resources.
