MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS Platinum Group, Eden Prairie, said its private equity fund has acquired the assets of Tiziani Golf Car of Minnesota and exclusive distribution rights for eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Platinum Group formed a new company, Superior Golf Cars, which will sell, service and lease new and used Club Car brand golf cars. Based in Augusta, Ga., Club Car manufactures golf, transportation and utility vehicles for the golf, utility and transport, private owner and rough-terrain markets. Dan O'Brien, channel sales and dealer development manager for Toro's compact equipment business, has been named president of Superior Golf Cars. O'Brien previously managed Tiziani Golf Car of Minnesota.
NEW PRODUCTS St. Jude Medical Inc., Little Canada, has regulatory and reimbursement approval from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration for its Brio deep brain stimulation system (DBS) for treating symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Uroplasty Inc., Minnetonka, has been issued a patent covering the stimulation method used in the Urgent PC Neuromodulation System. That is a nonsurgical system for treatment of urinary urgency, urinary frequency and urinary urge incontinence, symptoms often associated with overactive bladder.
NAME CHANGE Dolan Media Co., Minneapolis, said it will seek shareholder approval of a new company name, The Dolan Co. The proposal is included in stockholder proxy materials filed on Schedule 14A with the Securities and Exchange Commission in preparation for the company's annual meeting of stockholders May 26. No change is planned for the company's stock symbol, DM.
