Astrocom, Plymouth, has changed its name to Ecessa. The company makes affordable WAN optimization controllers specializing in WAN and ISP link aggregation, load balancing, failover and network security for small-to-medium sized enterprises. Along with the new company name, Ecessa appointed Marc Goodman its new marketing director to lead all corporate and product marketing efforts.
MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS HomeTown Bank, Redwood Falls, Minn., agreed to purchase the assets and assume the liabilities of the Jordan branch office of Flagship Bank Minnesota. Total assets being purchased and liabilities being assumed are approximately $22 million.
NEW PRODUCTS Alliant Techsystems, Eden Prairie, the prime contractor for the first stage of the Ares I launch vehicle, along with NASA, the U.S. Army, and the United Space Alliance, successfully conducted the second in a series of four Ares I drogue parachute drop tests. The tests are for development of the deceleration system for the Ares I first-stage booster. The Ares I is slated to replace the space shuttle.
