NEW PRODUCTS Medtronic Inc., Fridley, announced Food and Drug Administration approval for use of the Talent Abdominal Stent Graft on the CoilTrac Delivery System, a device that expands patient access to a minimally invasive treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms. Present in an estimated 1.2 million people and responsible for 15,000 annual deaths in the United States, an abdominal aortic aneurysm is a bulge of the body's main artery that can rupture with fatal consequences. The company also said that it has launched the Activa DBS Patient Referral Advisor software in the United States. The product is designed to help neurologists identify patients with Parkinson's disease who might benefit from a referral to a DBS center or implanter for evaluation for deep brain stimulation therapy.
