MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS Virtual Radiologic Corp., Minneapolis, has acquired Diagna Radiology, Post Falls, Idaho, for $6 million in cash and an additional $2.2 million in potential earn-out payments to be made over two years. Diagna Radiology is a teleradiology provider offering around-the-clock coverage on an emergent and non-emergent basis.

NEW PRODUCTS Boston Scientific Corp., Nantick, Mass., said the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare approved its ACUITY Steerable left ventricular lead for use with cardiac resynchronization therapy devices that treat heart failure. The company also received reimbursement approval for the lead from the National Health Insurance System and plans to launch the product immediately in Japan.

St. Jude Medical Inc., Little Canada, announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration and European CE Mark approvals of Eon Mini, a rechargeable neurostimulator to treat chronic pain of the trunk or limbs and pain from failed back surgery. Slightly larger than a U.S. silver dollar, the Eon Mini neurostimulator weighs about 1 ounce.

NEW BUSINESS Wilson Wolf Manufacturing Corp., New Brighton, has received a $3.76 million small business innovative research grant from the National Institutes of Health. Wilson Wolf will work in collaboration with the Diabetes Institute for Immunology and Transplantation (DIIT) at the University of Minnesota. DIIT is researching the transplanting of insulin-secreting cells, or islets, for potential treatment of Type 1 diabetes.

Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc., St. Louis Park, said it will open a 22,600-square-foot ApplianceSmart Factory Outlet in Rogers in May.

Alliant Techsystems, Edina, has received a contract option worth $134 million from Northrop Grumman Corp. to refurbish components and replace propellant on Minuteman III Stage 1, 2 and 3 rocket motors.

FSI International Inc., Chaska, has received orders for its ZETA spray cleaning systems with ViPR technology from customers in Korea, Japan and Europe.
