MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS The Pohlad family of companies has acquired Avtex Inc., a Minneapolis-based communications products provider. Terms were not disclosed.

VeraSun Energy Corp., Brookings, S.D., completed its acquisition of US BioEnergy Corp., Inver Grove Heights. Each share of US BioEnergy common stock will be converted into 0.81 share of VeraSun stock.

Tennant Co., Golden Valley, has completed acquisition of Sociedade Alfa Ltda., maker of the Alfa brand commercial cleaning machines. Terms were not disclosed.

Adayana Inc., a global performance products company based in Minneapolis, and Vertex Solutions, a learning-services consulting firm in Falls Church, Va., have finalized an agreement to merge. Vertex Solutions will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Adayana.

PERSONNEL MOVES Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. has named James Damian chairman of the board of directors, succeeding Warren Mack, who was serving as interim chairman. Before Mack, Kenneth Dahlberg was chairman for four years until his retirement in August. Damian is senior vice president of Best Buy Company's Experience Development Group.
