MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS Trans-Alarm Inc., Burnsville, has completed acquisition of the security monitoring accounts of Continental Alarm & Detection, a division of Continental Fire Sprinkler Co., Omaha. The sale includes a majority of Continental's monitoring accounts, most of them commercial and in Nebraska and Iowa. Trans-Alarm also has completed acquisition of the local monitoring accounts of Webco Security Inc., Ramsey. The sale includes a number of Webco's monitored accounts in the seven-county Twin Cities area.

Dyneon, a unit of 3M Co., Maplewood, has acquired the business of Hitech Polymers Inc., Hebron, Ky, which makes specialty thermoplastic polymers and provides toll thermoplastic compounding services. Terms were not disclosed.

NEW BUSINESS Calabrio Inc., a Minneapolis-based provider of workforce optimization and unified desktop software for IP-based contact centers, said that eLoyalty has signed an agreement to resell Calabrio workforce optimization products.

Pearson VUE, Bloomington-based electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, has signed a long-term contract with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) to provide certification exam services. The new ISM exam, to become a Certified Professional in Supply Management, will be delivered exclusively through international Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center Select locations, as well as company owned and operated Pearson Professional Centers around the world.

The Travelers Companies, St. Paul, said its Travelers Aviation unit is introducing a new workers' compensation insurance program for corporate flight departments. The aviation workers' compensation program covers general aviation flight departments, including pilots, ground crew and administrative staff.
