NEW BUSINESSThe Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, under its Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, has awarded a $33,627 grant to train 46 workers at RiteWay Manufacturing Inc., Lester Prairie, Minn., and a $49,673 grant to train 59 workers at Custom Roto Mold (CRM), Benson, Minn. RiteWay provides engineering, assembly, welding, fabrication, machining, and finishing. The grant will support a partnership between RiteWay and Ridgewater College, which has campuses in Willmar and Hutchinson, Minn. CRM is a rotational molder supplying custom-engineered products worldwide. The grant will support a partnership between CRM and Ridgewater to address skills gaps in the CRM workforce in product quality, continuous improvement and customer service.

MakeMusic Inc., Eden Prairie, has signed an agreement with music print publisher Hal Leonard Corp., under which MakeMusic will dramatically expand its SmartMusic music library to include many of the most popular songs of the 20th century and today. Those songs will be available for purchase from within the SmartMusic interactive learning software applications.

DEBT AND EQUITIESHutchinson Technology Inc., Hutchinson, extended its exchange offer, tender offers and rights offering relating to its 3.25 percent convertible subordinated notes due 2026 and 8.50 percent convertible senior notes due 2026 until 10 a.m. Twin Cities time on March 16 and March 23, respectively, unless further extended or terminated by the company. The transactions have been extended because the registration statement under which they are being conducted has not yet been declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission. All other terms, conditions and provisions of the transactions remain unchanged.

PERFORMANCETKDA, St. Paul, has earned a National Recognition Award for engineering achievement in the American Council of Engineering Companies' 46th annual Engineering Excellence Awards for designing a large-scale solar thermal energy system for District Energy St. Paul. Installed at the St. Paul RiverCentre, the 23,000-square-foot system is the largest known installation in the U.S. to use solar power for a hot water distribution system. With a peak energy production of 1.2 megawatts, the system also provides additional energy output to DESP's distribution system that heats 80 percent of downtown St. Paul's buildings.

PRODUCT RECALLAveda Corp., Blaine, announced a voluntary consumer recall of its Lash Abundance Boosting Serum after Aveda determined that the preservative system in the formula may not be sufficient to protect against certain microorganisms. Aveda is recalling all Lash Abundance Boosting Serum from anyone who has bought or received this product. The product launched to consumers on or about Feb. 12 in the United States, Canada and Australia, and March 1 in limited European markets; preview samples were distributed earlier. This recall affects all Lash Abundance Boosting Serum products. Consumers should stop using this product and discard or return it immediately. Consumers may get a full refund by returning the product, presenting a receipt to the place of purchase or by calling Aveda's consumer lines.
